Traditionally, in order to deliver broadband to your router you needed to have a traditional phone line installed. SoGEA (Single Order Generic Ethernet Access) is the future of broadband that doesn’t run over a traditional line. Instead, SoGEA offers a dedicated line that delivers a broadband connection without the need to rent a phone line.
With the WLR Withdrawal set for 2025, traditional broadband services will cease to exist and everyone will need to source their internet connectivity through a SoGEA line or Fibre to the Premises (FTTP) connection. This SoGEA line will run along the existing infrastructure, however, this will purely provide a data connection and no longer facilitate calls. Therefore, if calling functionality is required, a SoGEA line will need to be accompanied with one of our Cloud Voice packages.
When accessing SoGEA with NBC, everything is in one place, making things much simpler if you need to resolve an issue or fault. You can quickly access support for the whole system rather than having to contact different providers for separate systems. Having everything from one supplier saves you time, meaning you spend more time focusing on what’s important.
How does SoGEA work?
The need for traditional phone lines or landlines has significantly decreased over the last decade, with the increase of video phone calls and smartphone capabilities. Because of this, traditional phone lines are becoming redundant. BT has recently announced that they are planning to terminate traditional ISDN phone lines by 2025.
Advantages of SoGEA
Cheaper Costs: The combined cost of a phone line and broadband is more expensive than SoGEA.
Quicker Fix Times: Faults can now be resolved much quicker since the customer only needs to provide one support call to their provider. Some users use one provider for their phone line and another for their broadband, SoGEA negates the need to make more than one call.
Enables easier home working solutions. Start working from home more seamlessly with SoGEA. No need for added phone lines, you can connect instantly.
More reliable: Since there is no traditional phone line frequencies being used, there is less of a chance of interference and an unstable connection.
Fast to order: No need to source different providers for separate services. With SoGEA everything you need is included in one package.
Easy to install: With SoGEA, there’s only one system to install. This makes the set-up process much easier and faster. No messing around with excessive wires or other devices.
Superior Speed: Most importantly, SoGEA provides users with impressive speeds and reliable service. SoGEA keeps your business running smoothly without any added hassle.
SoGEA and Cloud Voice – a match made in heaven

Not only do you save by switching to SoGEA, but you also get a cheaper and more robust phone solution utilising the latest cloud technology. Future proof your business today with SoGEA and Cloud Voice from National Business communications. And you don’t even need to change your number!
SoGEA broadband is much cheaper than alternative products like Fibre Broaband or FTTC. This is because you only pay to access a broadband data connection. This means that you can expect a smaller bill as you won’t have a landline included in your plan. SoGEA packages are designed to be used together along with a hosted phone system like CloudVoice. Using SoGEA allows you to access reliable and superfast broadband at a cheaper cost than other broadband services.
Why choose NBC for SoGEA?
Ensuring your business is future-proof is the best way to manage your business communications. With BT discontinuing traditional phone lines in 2025 (WLR withdrawal), the need for an alternative to broadband services will change dramatically. With many other broadband or internet services, a phone line is included, causing users to pay more for a service. By using SoGEA from NBC, you can gain a fast and reliable connection without having to pay out for a phone line. Not only do we source the best business connectivity options at amazing prices, but we also provide excellent customer support so you’re never left in the dark.
How will switching to SoGEA benefit my small business?
Every penny counts for any business, especially smaller companies. SoGEA allows NBC to provide businesses with a single broadband service. This means that businesses don’t need to be tied up with phone bills if they don’t need them. Small businesses that switch to SoGEA are more likely to expect a cheaper rate without having to compromise on reliable and fast broadband.

However, SoGEA will be accessible wherever fibre broadband is in use. So this means that if you already have fibre broadband access, you’ll most likely to be able to switch to SoGEA. You can easily check if our services are available in your area when you select our products online.
Is SoGEA or SoGFast different in performance than FTTC & GFast?
No, you will receive exactly the same performance as you currently do. In some bases you will get a better performance since there is no call traffic that can interfere with integrity of the service.
